About the artist Per Sigmond (spotify)
Per is a flügehorn/trumpet-player, composer and studio-owner living in Grimstad, Norway. In his early years he was classically trained by Alf Johan Aareskjold,
Harald Rødal and Ola Balstad. In 1981 he played in The Band Of His Majesty The King's Guard
(Gardemusikken) during his compulsory military service. At university in Trondheim he was member of
several student orchestras, including Bodega Band lead by Jan Magne Førde.
After settling in Grimstad, he has most notably been playing with musicians like Espen Larsen, Oscar Jansen,
Arild Nyborg and the classical organist Ian Richards. For a number of years he was member of the norwegian folk/pop group "Faun" and recorded/produced two of their albums
(Pjolter and Noen Av De Beste).
Together with Oscar Jansen and Arild Nyborg he recorded the "jazz-feelgood"
album Sild Out (live), released in 2018.
He also appears on the hugely successful jazz album Make this moment by Inger Marie Gundersen from 2004.
His first album Synergia (together with Espen Larsen) came in 1997 on the acclaimed Norwegian jazz label "Curling Legs".
Since then Per has released four studio-albums and two live-albums on his own label, and has recorded and produced albums for several other artists.
As a musical child of the 70's and 80's, Per likes to compose and play in the style of "jazz/fusion". But being a versatile musician, he also plays classical style like on the album
Musikk for stille stunder with the acclaimed organ player Ian Richards.
