About the album "Live at PAN"
After releasing two studio albums (in 2019 and 2024) without any related concerts, I finally had the opportunity to have a "double release" on march 18 2025 in the new "PAN" concert hall in Grimstad, Norway. We were 9 people on stage:
· Per Sigmond (flügelhorn)
· Oscar Jansen (piano)
· Peter Haltorp (bass)
· Jan Inge "Jango" Nilsen (drums)
· Emil Viken (guitar)
· Hilde Sigmond (vocals, percussion)
· Ingrid Sigmond Selås (vocals, trumpet)
· Torgeir Albert (trombone)
· Anders Skjerdal (lead trumpet)
The concert turned out to be a great success. Full house, the musicians performed superbly, the room had perfect acoustics and the sound technician knew how to take advantage of it all.
I have never had such unison praise of the sound experience from any audience. A huge thanks to the musicians, Jan Arve Søfteland (sound) and "PAN" (Grimstad Kulturhus).
Together with Jan Arve, I was able to secure a multi-track recording of the full evening, and the incredible quality of the raw tracks made me realize I just had to
mix it down into an album. In this process, a lot of effort was made for the sound to be as good as possible without losing the "live" feeling of the event. Studio recordings are great, but there
is nothing like the energy that comes with a live performance.
Kristin Sigmond (my wife) provided photos that were displayed on the LED screen during the show by lighting engineer Simon Tallaksen. He also caught the show on cameras, and this together with the sound mixes enabled me
to create edited videos of the whole event. Links are provided below.
I hope you enjoy the album and the videos as much as I do.
September 2025, Per Sigmond.
